    President Ram Nath Kovind appoints Narendra Modi as Prime Minister on - 25th May 2019

    Exercising authorities under Article 75 (1) of the Indian Constitution, President Ram Nath Kovind on May 25th, 2019 selected Bhartiya Janta Party leader Narendra Modi as PM and invited him to arrange a new government at the Centre.
    President Kovind also asked Modi to suggest the names of others to be selected as the Union Council of
    Ministers and urged him to specify the date and time of the oath-taking ceremony.
    Narendra Modi elected as NDA parliamentary party leader

    • Following displaying a clean sweep triumph and after the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha, all the
      parties under the NDA selected senior Bhartiya Janta Party leader Narendra Modi as the leader of
      the alliance.
    • Narender Modi's name was anticipated by SAD leader Prakash Singh Badal following the endorsement of Janta Dal United leader Nitish Kumar, Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray and AIADMK leader EK Palaniswami.
    • Earlier to that, Modi was totally selected as the leader of Bhartiya Janta Party after the Bhartiya Janta Party President Amit Shah suggested his name.

    2nd SCO Mass Media Forum at Bishkek from - 23rd May 2019

    The 2nd Shanghai Cooperation Organization Mass Media Forum is being organised at Bishkek,
    Kyrgyzstan capital, from 23rd to 26th May 2019.
    Important Highlights of Forum

    • The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum was initiated by S. Jeenbeko, President of Kyrgyz
      Republic. During his opening speech, he lime-lighted significance of role played by Mass Media
      organizations of Shanghai Cooperation Organization nations in attaining Shanghai Cooperation
      Organization’s aims of regional security, mutual trust and friendly ties with neighbours in line with
      “Shanghai Spirit”.
    • The representative of state bodies administering mass media of Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Member States, Observer Nations, Dialogue Partner and senates of leading mass media of Shanghai Cooperation Organization nations and senates of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat are joining in Forum.
    • Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States accepted ‘Resolution of Media Forum’ which urges for starting successful associations of MMO of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member Nations.
      India and Forum
    • A delegation from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is on behalf of India at international Forum.
    • Indian Delegation lime-lighted important role played by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in expansion of mass media landscape within nation.
    • They also requested all Shanghai Cooperation Organization member delegates to forthcoming Golden Jubilee edition of International Film Festival of India to be apprehended in Goa in November 2019.

    Hostel for the ‘Veer Naris’ Sahara initiated  in - New Delhi

    Lt. Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal, initiated the Sahara Naval Hostel for the ‘Veer Naris’ at Vasant Kunj in
    New Delhi.
    About Sahara Hostel Project

    • It is a unique Hostel project for Naval Widows/Veer Naris.
    • It goals to deliver rehabilitation of Naval Widows and their families in period instantly after unfortunate death of their husbands serving the Indian Navy.
    • The Naval Regimental System office has also been co-located at hostel sites for easy onsite assistance to inhabitants of Sahara Hostel.
    • The project is directed by Indian Navy and has been made in Corporate Social Responsibility partnership with National Buildings Construction Corporation.
    • National Buildings Construction Corporation is a Government of India Navratna Enterprise that delivers civil engineering construction services.
      Important Features
    • The Hostels are contained with compact suites fitted with all essential facilities for dignified living, along with a common Dining Hall and a Community Hall.
    • Widows who have finished obligatory period in Government houses after death of their husbands only those are entitled to apply for staying in hostel for a period of 1 year.
    • Extension for staying above this period will be measured based on availability and merits of case.
