    Name of Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette which was formally handed over to Indian Navy - Kadmatt

    On 26th November 2015, Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette named "Kadmatt" was handed over to Indian Navy at Kolkata. This is built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE).

    This Corvette will be joining Eastern Fleet of Indian Navy very shortly. Rear Admiral (Retd) AK Verma who is also Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE handed over this super-sophisticated frontline warship to the Commanding Officer of the ship Mahesh C Moudgil. 

    Some Important Information about ASW Kadmatt :

    • It is 109 metres long with a displacement of 3200 tons and it has maximum speed of 25 Knots. 
    • It can accommodate 17 officers and 106 sailors on it.
    • It will be very useful to protect nation's maritime interests against possible submarine attack.

    INS Kadmant is the second in its class of four ASW corvettes being built by GRSE under Project-28 (P-28) for the Indian Navy.

    Union Government approved 3120 crore rupees for - Investment for infra boost in 102 AMRUT cities

    Among important Financial Current Affiars on 26th November 2015, Ministry of Urban Development approved an investment of 3120 crore rupees investment plans for basic urban infrastructure boost. This is aimed for 102 cities approved under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

    The plans will enhance water supply, sewerage network services, storm water drains, non-motorised transport and availability of public spaces in 102 cities, under AMRUT.

    Name of two teams which will be playing first day-night Test at Adelaide Oval - Australia and New Zealand

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, First day night Test match will be played between Australia and New Zealand at Adelaide Oval. It will be played from 27th November to 1st December 2015.

    Foreign Portfolio Investors were premitted by RBI to buy - Defaulted Bonds

    Among Important Banking Current Affairs, On 26th November 2015, RBI  permitted the Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) to buy fully or partly defaulted bonds in the repayment of principal on maturity or principal installment in the case of amortising bond.

    This was done with an motive to promote investments by FPIs in corporate bonds. 

    The RBI granted the permission to the FPIs under sections 10(4) and 11(1) of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999.

    Where was World Robot Olympiad held - Doha

    World Robot Olympiad (WRO), 2015 was held in Doha (Qatar) in the first week of November. Theme of this event was Robot Explorers. More than 55 countries took part into it. Indian students made a great show by winning three medals in total which includes one gold and two silver medals and one position (i.e. eight rank). Following are the details of Indian winners : 

    Winners in Elementary category (India)

    a) Storm Divers from Ahmadabad won first rank. Participants included Aaman Shah, Aarav Savla and Shaurya Goenka.

    b) Thunder Divers from Ahmadabad won second rank. Participants included Vir Gandhi, Ishan Patel and Param Adani.

    Winners from Open category (India)

    • Shadow Bots from Delhi won second rank. Participants included Jayant Sharma, Aman Thakur and Rohan Verma.

    • Path Finders from Delhi won eighth rank. Participants included Dhariya Gupta, Ishaan Saini and Laxman Prasad.

    Minister of State (Independent charge) for Culture and Tourism Dr Mahesh Sharma announced that 13th World Robot Olympiad will be held in Delhi in November 2016. This will be first ever in India.

    Surendra Upadhyay passed away, he was - Noted litterateur

    Noted litterateur and Professor Surendra Upadhyay passed away. He was 74 years old. He was former chairman of Rajasthan Brijbhasha Academy and has authored many books which includes short fiction, critic and poetry. For his work he was honoured with Doctor of Literature (DLit) at the university of Rajasthan.

    Who was appointed as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission - P Uday Bhaskar

    Among Important Appointments, On 26th November 2015, Mr. P Uday Bhaskar was appointed as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). Mr. P Uday Bhaskar is a professor of Civil Engineering and Director of Foreign Universities and Alumni Relations of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada. He has worked with JNTU-K in various capacities and has also published many research papers.
