    Government launched ‘2nd Edition of ISL Dictionary’ for hearing impaired persons on - 27th February 2019

    Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot on February 27th, 2019 released the 2nd Edition of Indian Sign Language Dictionary. The dictionary has been designed by the Indian Sign Language Research & Training Centre under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
    The 2nd edition of dictionary consists total 6000 words. The 1st edition of the dictionary was released on March 23rd, 2018 with 3000 words.

    • The Dictionary consists total 6000 words under the categories of academic, legal, medical, technical & day-to-day terms.
    • The dictionary videos contain the sign, the English term for the sign & pictures where required.
      A word list is also printed with the English & Hindi equivalents of the signs.
    • It has been designed with the involvement of the hearing impaired community, by issuing due consideration to their recommendations & understanding.
    • The Indian Sign Language Dictionary is also available on Indian Sign Language Research &  Training Centre's YouTube channel. About 1000 videos have been uploaded already & the rest are in the progression of being uploaded on YouTube channel.

    President Donald Trump to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in - Vietnam Summit

    US President Donald Trump will hold the 2nd summit with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un in Vietnam on February 27th-28th, 2019 as part of his government's continuing endeavours to denuclearise North Korea.
    Vietnam's Hanoi will be presenting the 2nd summit. Vietnam has diplomatic bonds with both Washington & Pyongyang.
    Significance
    The 2nd Trump-Kim Summit will be in an extension of Trump’s efforts to persuade Kim to roll back his nuclear programme.
    The Summit comes less than a year after the 2 leaders organised a historic meeting in Singapore in June 2018.
    Since their meeting, Trump has claimed that North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat; however, the spectators have witnessed some movement at their nuclear site.
    Expectations
    At the 2nd Trump-Kim summit, specialists expect that North Korea will likely be swapping the destruction of its main Yongbyon nuclear complex with an official declaration of the end of 1950-53 Korean War by the United States.

    ICAR & CSIR sign MoU for working together on - Food & Agriculture

    The Indian Council of Agricultural Research- ICAR & Council of Scientific & Industrial Research- CSIR have signed an MoU to collaborate in the area of food & agriculture.
    Memorandum of Understanding

    • Both Indian Council of Agricultural Research & Council of Scientific & Industrial Research will effort
      together on jointly agreed areas of agri-foods, medicinal & aromatic plants, nutraceuticals, accuracy
      agriculture, big information analysis, usage of artificial intelligence, genetic modifications in cotton,
      application of sensors in agriculture, post-harvest management & agricultural practises.
    • The network of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Indian Council of Agricultural Research would be utilised for technology demonstration & dissemination.
    • The Memorandum of Understanding also proposes a joint working committee to thoughtful & formulate the collaborative programmes & will meet 4 times a year.

    India hosts Global Digital Health Partnership Summit at - New Delhi

    The 4th Global Digital Health Partnership Summit being organised at New Delhi was initiated by the Union Health Minister J.P.Nadda in the company of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad Union Minister of Law &  Justice & Electronics & IT.
    The summit delivers an option to support government & health system reformers in refining the health & well-being of their residents through digital technologies. The Global Digital Health Partnership Summit is being hosted by the Ministry of Health &Family Welfare in association with the  World Health Organization & the Global Digital Health Partnership.

    ESIC payroll information suggests 2 crore jobs created in - 16 months

    The Employees State Insurance Corporation payroll information published by the Central Statistical
    Office proposes 2 crore jobs created in 16 months. The Employees State Insurance Corporation
    information is one of payroll numbers released by the Central Statistics Office in its reports based on
    individuals joining various social security schemes operated by Employees Provident Fund Organisation
    & Pension Fund Regulatory Development Authority. The information shows that:
    During September 2017 & December 2018, approximately 1.96 crore new subscribers joined the
    scheme.
    Employment produced in the prescribed sector almost tripled to touch 16 months high of 7.16 lakh in
    December 2018 compared to 2.37 lakh in the last year.
    About 72.32 lakh new users were added to social security schemes of the Employees Provident Fund
    Organisation from September 2017 to December 2018.
    An appraised number of new National Pension Scheme users during the period of September 2017 to
    December 2018 is 966381.

    India & Sweden to Increase Cooperation on - Anti-Microbial Resistance R&D

    The Swedish Health Minister Lena Hallengren following the meeting with Union Health Minister
    J.P.Nadda declared that  Anti-microbial Resistance is really dangerous & India as well as Sweden intend to boost teamwork to block it.

    • India & Sweden have inked a MoU to conjoin in the field of various matters, including Anti-microbial Resistance, communicable diseases & public health On February 24th, 2009.
    • Anti-microbial Resistance effort is an “continuing co-operation” between India & Sweden.
    • There would be bilateral co-operation between organisations, between universities, institutions.
      Sweden expected that India would join the Alliance of Champions, which is a conception between many nations worldwide to face & to fight Anti-microbial Resistance.

      The Alliance of Champions was published by then Swedish Health Minister Gabriel Wikstrom at the
      2015 World Health Assembly. Alliance of Champions involved health ministers of 14 nations intended to promote “political awareness, engagement & leadership” on Anti-microbial Resistance.

    Indian Space Research Organisation to launch electronic intelligence satellite ‘Emisat’ in - March 2019

    The Indian Space Research Organisation would be releasing an electronic intelligence satellite ‘Emisat’ for Defence Research & Development Organisation in March 2019. 
    In the special mission, Indian Space Research Organisation would also be releasing 28 3rd-party satellites & determine its new technologies like 3 different orbits with a new variant of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle rocket.  The precise date of the mission has not been specified till date.
    Important Highlights

    • Indian Space Research Organisation would be using a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle rocket with 4 strap-on motors. For the 1st time, it will be trying to orbit the rocket at 3 different altitudes.
    • The main passenger of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle rocket will be Defence Research & Development Organisation's electronic intelligence satellite Emisat that alone weighs about 420 kilograms.
    • The residual 28 satellites would cumulatively weigh about 250 kilograms.
    • After launching Emisat at an altitude of 763 kilometres, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle rocket will be brought down to put the 28 satellites into orbit at an altitude of 504 kilometres.
    • After that the rocket will be brought down further to 485 kilometres where the 4th stage will turn into a payload platform carrying 3 experimental payloads.
    • The experimental freights comprise 1 developed by the students of Indian Institute of Space Science &  Technology, Indian Space Research Organisation's own technology demonstrator & a Hamsat.

    National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar a part of AIIMS Delhi & AIIMS Rewari to come up as - 22nd AIIMS in nation

    The National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar, Haryana, which was freshly dedicated to the nation by PM Narendra Modi, is an integral part of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences- AIIMS, New Delhi.     • India’s 1st public sector “Robotic Core Clinical Laboratory” has also been recognized at National Cancer Institute at a cost of Rupees 15 crores. This Laboratory can accomplish more than 60,000 tests in a day & has the capability to give reports in 2 hours. 
    • It will have advance digital integration of Hospital Critical Care Systems & door to discharge without paper patient records.
    • It will emphasise on translational research on India Specific Cancers which shall enable primary detection of cancers & better treatment results.
    • Various nations including United States, France, United Kingdom, etc., have entered into research alliances with National Cancer Institute.
    • It has also cooperated with Department of AYUSH for research into the role of Indian Systems of Medicine in prevention & cure of cancer.
