    Which country’s women won 2016 Champions Trophy Hockey title – Argentina Women

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 27 June 2016 The Argentina women’s team won the 2016 Champions Trophy Hockey title. 

    To grab this title, Argentina defeated the reigning World and Olympic champions the Netherlands by 2-1.

    This final match was held at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London, the UK.

    However, for Argentina it was the 3rd consecutive title and the 7th title overall.

    Captain Carla Rebecchi, made the country Argentina feel proud because she stood as the top scorer with 7 goals. Whereas, Netherlands’ shot—stopper Joyce Sombroek was named as best goalkeeper.

    Which bank to study Blockchain technology to curtail paper currency – RBI

    Among Important National Current Affairs, on 24 June 2016 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) H R Khan declared that it will soon set up a committee to study the use of Blockchain technology.

    Purpose of this technology is to reduce the use of paper currency.

    Know About Blockchain Technology –

    • This technology consists of blocks that hold time-stamped batches of valid transactions.

    •  Here, digital records are put together into blocks and then leaped together cryptographically and chronologically into a chain using complex mathematical algorithms. The encryption process is termed as ‘hashing’.

    Which two countries co-developed MR-SAM missile successfully test-fired – India, Israel

    On 30 June 2016, at Chandipur off the Odisha coast, India successfully test-fired a medium range surface-to-air missile (MR-SAM) from a mobile launcher in the Integrated Test Range (ITR).

    By the Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDL) of DRDO in partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the MR-SAM was co-developed.

    Researcher develops non-invasive method to kill which disease cells in 2 hours – Cancer Cells

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 27 June 2016 Matthew Gdovin, who is an associate professor in the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Department of Biology, developed a newly patented method to kill cancer cells.

    Gdovin’s research was published in The Journal of Clinical Oncology.

    However, this discovery may help people with inoperable or hard-to-reach tumours.
