    Which country has launched 22nd BeiDou Navigation Satellite – China

    On 30 March 2016, China launched its 22nd satellite for its BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS). This satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, which is located in the southwestern province of Sichuan; here it was taken into orbit by a Long March-3A carrier rocket.

    About BeiDou Navigation Satellite :

    BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) which is also known as COMPASS or BeiDou-2, is a global satellite navigation system consisting of 35 satellites. It became operational in China in December 2011, with 10 satellites in use,[2] and began offering services to customers in the Asia-Pacific region in December 2012.[3] It is planned to begin serving global customers upon its completion in 2020.

    China started the build-up of the third generation BeiDou system (BDS-3) In-mid 2015, in the global coverage constellation. The first BDS-3 satellite was launched on 30 September 2015. As of March 2016, 4 BDS-3 in-orbit validation satellites have been launched.

    Which Country has approved OVL deal to acquire 15% stake in Vankor oilfield for $1.3 billion – Russia

    ONGC's deal has been approved by Russia to pick up 15% stake in Vankor Oilfield from Rosneft.
    About Vankor Oilfield :
    The Vankor Field was discovered in 1988. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union the development license for Vankor was issued to Eniseineft and the development license for Vankor North was issued to Taimyrneft, both controlled by the Anglo-Siberian Oil Company.
    The field was officially launched on 21 August 2009. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin attended the launch. Putin said the oil produced at Vankor will be fed to pipelines under construction to China and the Baltic Sea.

    Vankor is a Russia’s second biggest oilfield. This deal is of 1.3  billion US Dollars. In September, 2015 it was signed between the OVL and Rosneft.

    Who Took Oath As Myanmar's First Elected President - Htin Kyaw

    Among Important International Current Affairs, The 70-year-old Htin Kyaw took oath as Myanmar’s first elected President, at a joint session of parliament in the capital Nay Pyi Taw.
    After decades of  military rule, Aung San Suu Kyi's close aide Htin Kyaw also became the first elected civilian leader to be the President of the country. Army took power in a 1962 coup.

    Htin Kyaw is a Burmese writer, scholar, and the incumbent President of Myanmar. He is the oldest and first elected civilian president since 1962.
    He is an ethnic Mon-Bamar, and was mentioned as a possible presidential pick after the 2015 general election, while National League for Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi is constitutionally barred from the presidency.
    He has been sworn in as the 9th President of Myanmar on 30 March 2016, taking office from his predecessor Thein Sein.

    ISRO Creates History – 22 Satellites In One Mission

    Among Important National Current Affairs, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is all set to create a history by launching a record number of 22 satellites in a single mission including a number of micro and nano ones from foreign countries, in May 2016.

    According to ISRO, Polar rocket PSLV C34 carrying India's Cartosat 2C would also have 21 other satellites from other countries like US, Canada, Indonesia and Germany as co-passengers.

    The launch would be made from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in the spaceport of Sriharikota, which is 100 km from Chennai.

    It is the highest number of satellites ever to be launched by the space agency, Earlier they have sent 10 satellites into orbit in a single mission in 2008.
    Setting a world record, in 2013 NASA had sent total 29 satellites to the orbit in a single launch.

    RBI Signed Special Currency Swap Agreement With The Central Bank of which country – Sri Lanka

    Among Important Banking Current Affairs, On 29 March 2016, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed a Special Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
    The Central Bank of Sri Lanka can draw upto US$ 700 million for a maximum period of three (3) months.

    The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), established in 1950 under the Monetary Law Act No.58 of 1949 (MLA), it is a semi-autonomous body and, following the amendments to the MLA in December 2002, is governed by a five-member Monetary Board, comprising the Governor of the CBSL as chairman, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Planning and three members appointed by the President of Sri Lanka, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, with the concurrence of the Constitutional Council.

    Legendary playback singer P. Susheela Mohan has entered the Guinness World Records for recording highest number of songs in several languages.
    She has sung 17695 songs in 12 Indian languages.

    • An Indian playback singer, P. Susheela is also known as Pulapaka Susheela Mohan. For over six decades She is associated with the South Indian cinema.
    • P. Susheela was the first playback singer, who received the first National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1969. Again four more times she has been awarded with this prestigious award in 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1983.
    • In January 2008, she was awarded with the Padma Bhushan Award by the Government of India.
