    Contribution in State Disaster Response Fund increased by - Union Government

    Union Government has improved its involvement in State Disaster Response fund from 75 percent to 90 percent. Now, Central government will pay 90 percent and all States will contribute 10 percent to the State Disaster Response fund. With this development, Central Government’s extra contribution in State Disaster Response fund will be Rupees 1690.35 crores for the year 2018-19 and Rupees 1774.67 crore for the financial year 2019-20.

    • Under Disaster Management Act 2005, a financial process has been formed by way of National Disaster Response Fund at National level and SDRF at state level to encounter rescue and relief expenditure during any notified disaster.
    • State Disaster Response fund has been founded in each State in which Centre, so far, had been paying 75 percent for General Category States and 90 percent for Special Category States of hilly areas per year.

    USAID-India End TB Alliance to eliminate  - TB announced

    US and India have set up ‘USAID-India End TB Alliance containing leading specialists in public and private segments to fight against the threat of TB. It was proclaimed by USAID administrator Mark Green at programme in New York in presence of Union Health Minister J P Nadda.

    • The alliance members consist industry and civil society leaders, researchers, scientists, innovators,
      investors, and members of the diaspora.
    • The specialists in the alliance will suggest innovative approaches to fight against TB in India. It 2 members include Dr.Soumya Swaminathan, Director General of WHO and Blessina Kumar from Global Coalition of Tuberculosis Activists.
    • United States Agency for International Development will complete starting US $30 million commitment, subject to endorsement of the United States Congress.
