    Cauvery Water Management Authority formed by - Central Government 

    Following guidelines from Supreme Court, the Central Government has constituted the Cauvery Water Management Authority to address the disagreement over sharing of river water among Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry. In February, 2018 ruling, the Supreme Court had guided centre to set-up the Cauvery Water Management Authority within 6 weeks. In the same judgement, the court had also improved Karnataka’s share in Cauvery Water a little bit.
    Cauvery Water Management Authority

    • The freshly established CMA has been formed according to theCauvery Management Scheme previously outlined by Centre and sanctioned by Supreme Court.
    • The committe will include a chairman, a secretary and 8 associates. Out of the eight members, 2 will be full-time basis, while other 2 will be part time members from centre.
    • Remaining 4 will be part-time associates from states. The chief mandate of the Cauvery Water
      Management Authority will be to sheltered implementation and acquiescence of the Supreme Court’s order in concern to “storage, allotment, regulation and regulator of Cauvery waters”.
      Cauvery Water Management Authority will also guide the states to adopt appropriate measures to
      progress water usage efficiency. It will do this by encouraging with the utilisation of micro-irrigation, cropping patterns alterations, better-quality farm practices and expansion of command areas.
    • The Cauvery Water Management Authority will also formulate an annual report covering its activities during the previous year.

    Role of Central Government

    The central government will deliver help in execution of the modified award in case of any of the state or
    UT parties including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Puducherry, that do not collaborate in executing
    the decision of the tribunal. Primarily, centre will pay Rupees two crores for the functioning of the
    authority.

    International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is observed worldwide on June 4th , 2018. The main aim of the day is to recognize the pain suffered by children worldwide who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse.
    The day confirms the United Nation's promise to shielding the rights of children. Its work is directed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is the most quickly and extensively ratified international human rights treaty in history.

    President of India Ram Nath Kovind gave his approval to the National Sports Ordinance, 2018, on June 1st , 2018. The ordinance had previously received sanction from the Union Cabinet on May 23rd, 2018. The suggestion for endorsement of the ordinance was placed forward by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

    • The National Sports University Ordinance, 2018 will be with the guidelines of the National Sports University Bill, 2017.
    • The consent of the ordinance will cover way for the set-up of the nation’s 1st National Sports University with HQ at Manipur.
    • The 1st specialised University, will have objective to encourage sports education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports management and sports coaching.
    • It will also work as a National Training Centre for specific sports guidelines by accepting the best international practices.

    Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana is a fresh Health Insurance Scheme for the reporters released by the state government in Odisha. This scheme delivers Rupees two Lakh annually health insurance cover to all working media-persons of the state.
