Raninder Singh became first Indian to be elected to ISSF executive committee
On 3rd December 2014, Raninder Singh became first to get elected as a member of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Executive Committee. Raninder Singh is the President of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).

This news is important because it is the first time when an Indian has been elected as the member of the global body representing the sport of shooting.
Raninder garnered 22 out of 25 votes in the General Assembly meeting held at Munich, Germany.

Navy Day observed on 4th December in India
On 4th December 2014, 43rd Navy Day was observed in India. The President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended dedication of Indian Navy to protect the maritime interests of nation. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Army Chief Lt. General Dalbir Singh Suhag also paid tributes to martyrs of INS Sindhurakshak at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi on this day.

Former Justice and Social Activist Vaidyanathapura Rama Krishna Iyer passed away
On 4th December 2014, Former Supreme Court Justice and Social Activist Vaidyanathapura Rama Krishna Iyer passed away at the age of 100 years.
Krishna Iyer stood for the cause of justice, equality and socialism throughout his life.
He was also a noted writer, Books written by him are
- Law and the People,
- Law, Freedom and Change,
- Law India, Some Contemporary Challenges,
- Social Justice and the Handicapped Humans,
- The Indian Law (Dynamic Dimensions of the Abstract),
- Wandering in Many Worlds (Autobiography).
He was conferred with Padma Vibhushan in the 1999 by Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
Thirty Meter Telescope Project joined by India as a Full Member
On 2nd December 2014, Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) Project was joined by India as full member. Apart from India other four members are USA, China, Japan and Canada. These countires will be working together to build the largest telescope in the world at Mauna Kea in Hawaii.

Thirty Metre Telescope (TMT) is being built at the height of 4050 meter on Mauna Kea Mountains in Hawaii which is expected to be completed by 2020. After its completion it will be helping astronomers to study objects in our own solar system and stars throughout our Milky Way and its neighboring galaxies, and forming galaxies at the very edge of the observable Universe, near the beginning of time.
