    Judicial Complex Inaugurated at Amaravati  -  Andhra Pradesh

    The Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi & Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu initiated the
    judicial complex in Amaravati. The judicial complex will house the interim High Court for Andhra
    Pradesh. The CJI also placed the foundation stone for the building of a permanent High Court to be built in Nelapadu of Guntur district.
    The building of new high court was demanded following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. The High Court which was common for both Andhra Pradesh & Telangana till 2018 &  freshly the separate high courts were informed by the union government following the order from the Supreme Court .
    Judicial complex in Amravati

    • The Judicial Complex in Amravati was built by Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development
      Authority within a quick span of 8 months. The total building cost is projected about Rupees 173 crores.
    • As a temporary arrangement, the complex will house the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.
    • Once the building of the new high court at Nelapadu of Guntur district is finished, the complex will house the city civil court.
    • Originally the 1st High Court of Andhra Pradesh was initiated on July 5th, 1954, in Guntur & was moved to Hyderabad only in October 1956.

    Madras High Court Rules against Negative Marking in - Competitive Exams

    The Madras High Court has governed against negative marking in competitive exams saying they are bad in law.
    Observations of the Madras High Court

    • The Madras High Court while hearing a petition by an IIT JEE candidate who failed to clear the Mains due to negative marking has done the following remarks:
    • The Madras High Court has recognized the petitioner’s argument that negative marking is not dominant anywhere else in the world.
    • The court informed that negative marking items only as ‘a bolt in the brain development’ of students &  avoid them from making intelligent presumptions.
    • Subtracting marks for wrong answers would not in any way benefit in analysing the intelligence, aptitude of the aspirants.
    • Every candidate could not be predictable to know all answers for sure. In such situations, the practice of negative marking would affect brain development & generate a fear psychosis among students.
    • The court disallowed the CBSE counsel’s disagreement that in Indian context the practice is necessary.

    Extradition of Vijay Mallya to India approved by - UK Home Secretary

    The United Kingdom home secretary has well-ordered the extradition of Vijay Mallya over allegations of £1bn fraud. The United Kingdom home secretary found that Vijay Mallya, the 1st to be declared  Fugitive Economic Offender  is suspect in India of conspiracy to defraud, making false representations & money laundering crimes.
    The liquor baron is still defiant & he has informed that he would appeal against the repatriation.

    • The judge hearing Mallya’s repatriation request noted that Mallya had distorted how loans from Indian banks were utilised.
    • The judge labelled Mallya as a glamorous, showy, famous, bejewelled, bodyguarded, ostensibly billionaire playboy who enchanted & cajoled these bankers into losing their common sense & encouragement them to put their own rules & guidelines to one side.
    • The Indian investigation companies allege that Mallya has misinformed Indian Banks about the fortunes of his failing Kingfisher airline, previously laundering the cash to fund his Formula One team & other projects.
    • The Enforcement Directorate is examining the tycoon’s £977m debts connected to the airline, which went bust in 2012.

    Hoveizeh Cruise Missile  successfully test fired by - Iran

    Iran declared the successful test flight of Hoveizeh long-range cruise missile on February 2nd which
    symbols the 40th anniversary of 1979 Islamic revolution.
    The Hoveizeh Cruise Missile is part of the Soumar cruise missile family & has a range of more than 1350
    kilometres. It is outlined to utilise against ground targets. The Hoveizeh missile requires a very short time for its preparedness, can fly at a low altitude & is built by the Aerospace Industries Organization, Israel.
    1979 Islamic Revolution

    • The democratically selected PM in Iran was thrown out & the Shah was returned to the throne with the help of American CIA. In the times of cold war, the United States required to keep the Shah in power as a bulwark against the Soviet Union.
    • Iran was gaining vast profits from oil production & the gap was widening between the wealthy & the poor. 
    • The recession in 1975 directed to tension between the classes.
    • In October 1977, the son of the Shia cleric Ayatollah Khomeini died due to heart attack & the rumours spread that he had been killed by the SAVAK secret police.
    • Shah was battling for life due to cancer at the time. Shah had his Information Minister printed an article in the newspaper that slandered Ayatollah Khomeini was a gadget of British neo-colonial interests & a man without trust.
    • This annoyed people & the theology students in the city of Qom exploded in angry protests. To
      overwhelm the protests the shah came down heavily on the protestors & what followed as a massacre at Qom.

    Ministry of Coal signed MoU with Poland’s Ministry of Energy on - 4th February 2019

    The Union Ministry of Coal on February 4th, 2019 inked a MoU with Ministry of Energy, Republic of Poland in New Delhi on co-operation in the field of coal mining. 
    The Memorandum of Understanding was inked between Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State for Coal & Mines & Grzegorz Tobiszowski, Secretary of State for Poland’s Ministry of Energy.
    The main aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to foster ties in the field of coal mining & clean coal technologies via the already recognized joint coal working group and research institutes & academia between the both nations.

    Main Highlights

    • The Memorandum of Understanding will greatly advantage the field of clean technologies & would provide prospects to both India & Poland to expand trade &investment in diverse areas in the mining & energy sectors. 
    • A dual working group has been formed to make sure proper execution of the Memorandum of Understanding.
    • The group would be assisting closely to take the goal of the Memorandum of Understanding further in a time-bound manner.
    • India & Poland recently observed 60 years of vibrant diplomatic ties & also formalised co-operation MoUs in different areas.
    • The MoU is goaled at further strengthening these efforts.

    • Azim Premji was born on July 24th, 1945, to an affluent Gujarati businessperson. He inherited Wipro, a vegetable oil firm at the age of 21 after the unexpected demise of his father.
    • Azim Premji was pursuing Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, United States when he took over the reins of his family business in 1966. He was written-off to convey the herculean task & was openly advised to sell his stake-holding & give it into more mature hands. 
    • This further supported his resolve to make Wipro a success story.
    • Under his able leadership, Wipro expanded from hydrogenated cooking fats to bakery fats, ethnic

    Government launches Shehri Samridhi Utsav to extend outreach of - DAY-NULM

    The Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs in February 2019 released the Shehri Samridhi Utsav, which is an initiative that goals to extend the outreach of Deendayal Antyodaya Mission– National Urban Livelihoods Mission to the most vulnerable.
    The programme will facilitate access of Self-Help Group members to the other government plans.
    Highlights of the Shehri Samridhi Utsav

    • The Day 1 of Shehri Samriddhi Utsav started with a series of rallies headed by women’s’ Self-Help Groups across the nation. These rallies increase awareness about Deendayal Antyodaya Mission– National Urban Livelihoods Mission in urban poor communities.
    • Job melas & fairs were held by many states to market the products made by female micro-entrepreneurs.
    • Through Shehri Samridhi Utsav, the Self-Help Group members across cities are being connected to government plans including Swachchh Bharat Mission- Urban, PM Awas Yojana- Urban, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Yojana and National Nutrition Mission.
    • A main highlight of Shehri Samridhi Utsav is the National Exhibition cum sale of Self-Help Group products & National Street Food Festival that will be held in New Delhi.
    • More than 100 stalls are being formed in Central Delhi with various handlooms, handicrafts, snacks & other local products made by 200 SHGs representing 23 states.

    Plans of National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation for - Backward Sections

    The National Minority Development Finance Corporation is applying various plans for the socio- economic development of the “backward sections” amongst the reported minorities. The plans are being executed via the State Channelizing Agencies designated by the respective State Governments or Union Territories Administration.
    Categorisation of Beneficiaries
    Credit Line-1: For those with the yearly family income 98000 for rural areas & Rupees 1.20 lacs for urban areas.
    Credit Line-2: For those with higher yearly family income eligibility criterion of up to Rupees 6 Lacs.
    Plans of NMDFC Credit Plans
    The various credit plans like Term Loan, Micro Finance, Education Loan & Mahila Samridhi Yojana are announced to enhance the income opportunities by promoting income generation activities.

    Vocational Training Scheme

    Under the Kaushal Se Kushalta plan, skill development training programmes of 200-250 hrs duration are planned & Stipend of Rupees 1000/candidate/month is provided. The plans guarantee placement of least 70 percent candidates trained under the scheme.

    The Marketing Assistance Scheme predicts promoting sale & marketing of their products at
    remunerative prices via participation or organizing exhibitions at State or District level.
