Munich ATP title clinched by Martin Klizan
On 4th May 2014, Martin Kilzan won the Munich ATP tournament to claim second title of his career. Martin Kilzan defeated Fabio Fognini by 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Martin Kilzan is from Slovakia
He was presented BMW 420d Convertible car and winner's cheque of 77315 Euros by the tournament organisers.
New Element Ununseptium set to join the periodic table
New Element 117 which is temporarily called Ununseptium with 117 protons set to join periodic table.
It is the second-heaviest element ever created by humans after ununoctium, or element 118. Elements beyond atomic number 104 are referred to as super-heavy elements.
The latest instance of the discovery of this element was made by a team at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Germany. The report was published in Physical Review Letters.
Former British Tennis player Elena Baltacha died due of liver cancer
On 4th May 2014, tennis player Elena Baltacha passed away due to liver cancer. She was 30 years old. She was also Former British No 1 tennis player.

She was diagnosed of liver cancer in January 2014. She fell ill, just two months after her retirement from the sports. Elena retired from tennis in November 2013.

Royal Navy gets first female submariners
United Kingdom's Royal Navy Submarine Service for the first time appointed female submariners.
Lieutenants Maxine Stiles, Alexandra Olsson and Penny Thackray earned their "Dolphins" after months of training, including operations on HMS Vigilant.
Lieutenants Maxine Stiles, Alex Olsson and Penny Thackray on 5th May 2014 have become the first women to serve in the Royal Navy Submarine Service.The move was taken for the first time in the 110-year history of the Submarine Service.
Important to note :
- A ban on women submariners based on health fears was lifted in 2011.
- Female personnel will also be able to serve on Astute-class submarines from around 2016.
No need of Government approval to probe senior bureaucrats on corruption charges : SC
"Status or position" cannot shield an officer of the level of joint secretary and above from unconstrained probe by the CBI in cases of corruption, the Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday, quashing a law that requires the agency to go to the government to seek approval for the investigation.
On 6th May 2014, The Constitutional Bench Supreme Court of India on 6 May 2014 held that prior sanction is not required from the government to probe the senior bureaucrats on corruption charges.

Important to note :
The five-judge Constitutional Bench was headed by Chief Justice RM Lodha and included Justice AK Patnaik, Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya, Justice Dipak Misra and Justice FMI Kalifulla. They held that the Section 6A of Act is invalid and it violates Article 14 of the Constitution of India.
Article 14 of Constitution of India
Article 14 is covered under Fundamental Rights and states Equality before the Law. As per Article 14, the State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India.
Prime Minister of Slovenia resigned
On 5th May 2014, Prime minister of Slovenia, Alenka Bratusek handed in her resignation to parliament Monday after losing the battle for the leadership of the Positive Slovenia party more than a week ago. Now the President will appoint a new prime minister within 30 days.
