    2016 Asia Kabaddi Championship Cup won by – Pakistan

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 6 May 2016 Defending Champion Pakistan won the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2016 (Circle Style) that held at Wah Cantonment in Pakistan. 

    Pakistan defeated India by 19 points.

    In this championship, Pakistan achieved 50 points against 31 by India in the final of the tournament. It is second successive win for Pakistan in the Asian Kabaddi title as they won it in 2012.

    Who decriminalises beef possession, upholds ban on slaughter of bulls, bullocks in Maharashtra - Bombay HC

    Among Important National Current Affairs, On 6 May 2016 The Bombay High Court upheld the ban on slaughter of bulls and bullocks in Maharashtra indicating that consumption of beef will remain banned across the state.

    However, a division bench of Justices AS Oka and SC Gupte, struck down provisions that criminalised possession of beef of animals slaughtered outside the state.

    Here are few highlights of the Judgement –

    • According to the bench, "conscious possession" of the meat of animals slaughtered in the state will be held as an offence.

    • Along with this ruling, the burden of proving innocence will not be on individuals and the onus to prove that the law was violated lies on the prosecution.

    • The High Court said the sections that criminalised possession of beef is an infringement on the right to privacy of citizens.

    Who is re-elected as Prime Minister of Ireland - Enda Kenny

    Among Important International Current Affairs, On 6 May 2016 Taoiseach Enda Kenny was re-elected as Prime Minister of Ireland. Kenny, leader of Fine Gael party, was elected for the post 70 days after a general election which had produced no outright winner.

    Kenny was re-appointed with 59 votes in favour and 49 votes against.

    Kenny’s Gael party won the most seats in the election but fell short of the quota needed to rule without support. This means that Kenny will lead a minority Fine Gael government.

    • Enda Kenny who is re-elected as Prime Minister of Ireland, is an Irish politician, leader of Fine Gael since 2002, and Taoiseach since March 2011.

    Which bank signs MoU with BRICS’s New Development Bank - ICICI Bank

    Among Important National Current Affairs, India’s largest private sector lender ICICI Bank has inked a MoU with the BRICS Grouping-promoted New Development Bank (NDB) for a partnership in bond issuances, co-financing, treasury management and human resources. 

    After this, ICICI Bank now becomes first financial institution in the country to tie up with the BRICS Grouping-promoted NDB. 

    By BDB’s first President and ICICI Bank veteran KV Kamath and ICICI Bank Chief Chanda Kochhar in Mumbai, Maharashtra the MoU was signed.

    • After this sign, The MoU will help NDB in exploring rupee-denominated bonds in the domestic and international markets. It will make both the lenders collaborate to fund development projects in India.
