First edition of IoT India Congress begins in – Bengaluru

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 7th September 2016 the first edition of IoT India Congress 2016 kick started in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

This three-day event was inaugurated by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Information Technology (IT) and Electronics Minister, and JS Deepak, Secretary, Ministry of Telecommunications.

On 8th September which day is celebrated across the world - International Literacy Day 

Among International Current Affairs, on 8th September 2016 The International Literacy Day was celebrated across the world. 

However, the theme of International Literacy Day 2016 is Reading the Past, Writing the Future.

The reason behind this theme is to honour the past five decades of national and international engagement, efforts and progress made to increase literacy rates around the world.

Here, the theme also addresses current challenges and looks to innovative solutions to further boost literacy in the future.

President gives assent to the Constitution (122nd Amendment) - GST Bill, 2014

Among Important National Current Affairs, as per Article 111 of the Constitution, President Pranab Mukherjee has finally given assent to the Constitution (122nd Amendment) (GST) Bill, 2014. 

With this assent, now bill becomes law and opens road to roll out a new indirect tax regime and gives way for the concept of one nation, one tax.

Which two countries Joint Exercise PRABAL DOSTYK-16 begins - India, Kazakhstan

Among International Current Affairs, on 7th September 2016 Troops of Indian and Kazakhstan Army began their joint exercise 'PRABAL DOSTYK – 16'. 

This exercise is being conducted in Karaganda region of Kazakhstan, which will conclude on 17th September, 2016.

Please Note: Prabal Dostyk means Robust Friendship, which is a significant step towards fostering military as well as diplomatic ties between both countries.

GRSE hands over fast attack craft TIHAYU to - Indian Navy

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 30th August 2016 The Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) of Kolkata handed over TIHAYU, the Water Jet Fast Attack Craft (WJFAC) to the Indian Navy. 

However, this warship was handed over by Rear Admiral (Retd) AK Verma, CMD of GRSE to the Commanding Officer Cdr Ajay Kashov.

Also, GRSE had earlier built and delivered 10 WJFACs to the Indian Navy during 2009 to 2011, which are proving well in service.
