    President Ram Nath Kovind embarks on 3-nation Africa tour from - 7th April 2018

    President Ram Nath Kovind boarded on 3 countries official state visit to African nations of Equatorial
    Guinea, Swaziland and Zambia from April 7-12 th , 2018. It will be 1st-ever visit by any state head of India to Equatorial Guinea and Swaziland. President of India’s visit to Zambia will be happening after 29 years.
    The official visit will assist to further strengthen relationships between 3 African nations. It will be overall President Kovind’s 3rd visit to African-continent since he took in-charge. Previously in March 2018, President had undertaken 2 nations visit to Madagascar and Mauritius.
    Main Highlights of President’s visit

    •  Equatorial Guinea’s visit comes at invitation of Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
    • President Obiang will also throe formal banquet lunch for President Kovind. Indian President
      Ram Nath Kovind will address the Indian public at a reception planned by Indian Embassy.
    •  During Swaziland visit, President Ram Nath Kovind will be honoured by King of Swaziland, Mswati-III.
    • He will organise delegation discussions with the Swazi administrators. President Kovind and King
      Mswati-III will mutually initiate IT Centre situated in Royal Science and Technology Park.
    • During Zambia’s visit, President Ram Nath Kovind will be honoured by his Zambian complement Edgar Chagwa Lunguand. Far along he will have delegation discussions with Zambian side.
    • He will also have communication event with Indian public and addressing business occasion.

    RBI switches back to GDP model from GVA model to measure - Economy

    The RBI switched back to GDP model from the Gross Value Added methodology to deliver its estimate of economic activity in the nation. The shift to Gross Domestic Product is chiefly to imitate to international ethics and global best practices.

    Ganga Hariteema Yojana launched in 27 districts of Uttar Pradesh on - 7th April 2018

    The UP Government on April 7th , 2018 released the Ganga Hariteema Yojana (Ganga Greenery scheme) in the 27 districts of UP that are situated on the river Ganga bank.  CM Yogi Adityanath released the scheme in a function held on the bank of Sangam at Allahabad.

    • The plan focuses to improve the green cover in the river Ganga’s catchment areas and to control the land erosion. 
    • In the plan, plantation will be completed in 1 km areas from the river banks. 
    • Common people will also be stimulated for plantation on their private lands under One Person One Tree slogan.

    • A high power committee under Chairmanship of CM has been formed to detect the implementation of the scheme. 
    • 7 state government subdivisions have been involved for implementation of the scheme.
    • A committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary Rajeev Kumar to care for the contribution of various departments. 
    • The scheme will be carried out by September 16 th , 2018 and that will be celebrated as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer 2018. 

    IAF conducts biggest combat exercise Gaganshakti from  - 8th April 2018

    The Indian Air Force completed one of its mega war exercises Gaganshakti from April 8th -April 22nd , 2018 to detect its operational readiness for dealing with any likely security challenges from China and Pakistan. Gaganshakti, is a force level exercise which is directed once in every 2 years. This 2 weeks long exercise will consist of complete resources of the Indian Air Force including its fighter squadrons.

    • The exercises will be directed day-night to detect war waging competence of the force.
    • The first phase of the exercise will focus on Northern borders and second phase will be carried out to check preparedness in case of a war-like situation along the Western borders.
    • Over 15000 India Air Force employees including 300 officers will be connected in the exercise along with more than 1100 force aircrafts. 
    • It will aim on flexible usage of airspace, combined maritime air operations with the Indian Navy and combined operations with the Indian Army.
    • It will also examine the rescue process for actual removal of downed flight crew behind enemy lines and maximum casualty clearing from highway.

    Justice Gita Mittal to be conferred ‘Nari Shakti’ award on women’s day by - Ministry of Women and Child Development

    Justice Gita Mittal, the Acing Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, will be honoured with the ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar 2017’ by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The prize is also known as India’s uppermost civilian honour for women, will be given upon 30 women and firms on March 8th, on the eve of the International Women’s day.
    Gita Mittal is the 1st woman from the law field and justice to be honoured the prestigious prize. She is known to have presented many welcome variations in the operations of the Delhi High Court, ever since she appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the court in April 2017.
    She has also been minutely observing the privilege of justice in Delhi and inaugurated a clean-up drive of the subordinate judiciary.

    Rs.1000 crore for research in S and T under IMPRINT-II  allocated by - HRD Ministry 

    The Ministry of Human Resource Development has approved Rupees 1000 crores for phase II of
    Impacting Research Innovation and Technology India programme to enhancing research and novelty in
    the country.
    Under the IMPRINT-II, a deposit is being formed by Department of Science and Technology and HRD
    Ministry in collaboration, in which contribution will come from industry and other attentive Departments. The project will be functioning as a distinct vertical in synchronization with Department of Science and Technology.
    Impacting Research Innovation and Technology India
    Impacting Research Innovation and Technology India Programme is combined initiative of Indian
    Institute of Science and Indian Institutes of Technology. It pursues to form road map for study to solve
    chief engineering and technology encounters in ten technology areas related to nation.

    These areas consist of healthcare, ICT, river systems, advanced materials, supportable habitat, security
    and defence, nano?technology hardware, energy, water resources, construction and climate. These areas are scattered between Indian Institutes of Technologies Kharagpur, Bomaby, Kanpur, Madras Rookree and Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
