Union Cabinet constituted SIT on Black Money to comply with SC Judgement
On 27th May 2014, The Union Cabinet headed by PM Narendra Modi constituted Special Investigating Team (SIT) on Black Money. The decision was taken to comply with the Supreme Court Judgement on Black Money. SIT will be headed by Former judge of Supreme Court Justice MB Shah and Justice Arijit Pasayat will be its Vice Chairman. The other members of SIT will be :
- Secretary, Department of Revenue
- Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India,
- Director (IB)
- Director, Enforcement
- Director, CBI
- Chairman, CBDT,
- Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau
- Director General, Revenue Intelligence
- Director, Financial Intelligence Unit
- Director, Research and Analysis Wing and
- Joint Secretary (FT&IR-1), CBDT
Important to note :
On 4th May 2014, SC directed Union Government to notify SIT headed by Justice (retd) M B Shah within three weeks.
Former off-spinner of England David Allen passed away
Former Gloucestershire and England off-spinner David Allen has passed away. He was 78 years old.
He took 122 Test wickets at an average of 30.97, with four five wickets in an innings returns. Allen also scored 918 Test runs, including five fifties, with a best of 88.
Bristol-born Allen played for Gloucestershire, his native county, from 1953-1972, taking more than 1,200 wickets and scoring over 9,000 runs in first-class cricket.
He subsequently became Gloucestershire's president in 2011.
He was best remembered for his batting feat against West Indies at the Lord's Cricket Ground in 1963. In that match, he played West Indies fast bowler Wes Hall, the then fastest bowler in the world, in the final over to ensure a draw.
Brazuca balls to be used in FIFA World Cup 2014 to have six in-built HD cameras
Technology will get a new meaning in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil as the Brazuca balls to be used in the mega event will come with six in-built HD cameras capturing 360 degree view of the on-field action.
The technology involves a new structural innovation with a unique symmetry of six identical panels alongside a different surface structure that will provide improved grip, touch, stability and aerodynamics on the pitch.
Brazucam is a customised Brazuca official match ball featuring six HD cameras that capture 360 degree view of the action. The product features custom-made image stabilisation software at the cutting edge of innovation. It is created by six propeller-shaped polyurethane panels being thermally bonded together.

Sachin Tendulkar selected as goodwill ambassador for 35th National Games
On 27th May 2014, Sachin Tendulkar was selected as the goodwill ambassador of 35th National Games, which is among important sports Current Affairs. These games are scheduled to be held in Kerala from January-February 2015. These games will be held in seven cities of the state.
During the meeting of Sachin Tendulkar with Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy he was selected as goodwill ambassador. Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy also announced the name of the Kochi franchise team owned by Sachin Tendulkar in the Indian Super League Football Tournament. Name of football team owned by Sachin is Kerala Blasters Football Club.
