To transform Surat into smart city Surat Municipal Corporation partnered with Microsoft

On 19th December 2014, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) announced that it had partnered with tech gaint Microsoft to make Surat a smart city. This will be acheived by Microsoft's CityNext Program which will help in making citizen services more responsive, transparent, efficient and productive.  

National Mathematics Day observed in India to commemorate birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan

 On 22nd December National Mathematics Day was observed across India to commemorate the birth anniversary of great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. 

Earlier on 26 February 2012 former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh declared 22 December as National Mathematics Day at Madras University on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Ramanujan. 2012 was also declared as National Mathematics Year.

Jyotsna Suri elected as the new President of the FICCI

Among the important appointments on 20 December 2014, Jyotsna Suri was elected as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). Jyotsna Suri is also Chairperson of Bharat Hotels. She was elected as the President at the conclusion of the FICCI 87th annual general meeting. She succeeded Sidharth Birla who is Chairman of Xpro India Limited and Digjam Limited. Apart from her Ambuja Neotia group Chairman Harshavardhan Neotia was elected Senior Vice President and Zydus Cadila Chairman Pankaj R. Patel was elected as Vice President.

Ambassador of Cricket World Cup 2015 is Sachin Tendulkar

Among the Important Sports Current Affairs, On 22nd December 2014, Criket legend Sachin Tendulkar was appointed as the ambassador of Cricket World Cup 2015 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). 

Cricket World Cup is the third biggest sporting event in the world and 2015 world cup is scheduled to be held in Australia and New Zealand from 14th February to 29th March 2015.

Also important to mention here that Tendulkar has been appointed as ambassador of Cricket World Cup of ICC for the second successive time.
