    Preparation of SNAP Entrance Exam - Important Tips

    Symbiosis National Aptitude Test-SNAP is an annual examination organised by Symbiosis International University at Pune, for the admissions to various Management subjects offered by various institutions under its affiliation SCMHRD and SIBM. Preparation for SNAP is much different from CAT examination in the respect of General Knowledge part and the level of difficulties in the overall paper.

    Moreover, we advise the students to keep an eye on all the current National and International topics for General aptitude section, and less efforts on historical section.

    Aspirants looking forward for SNAP preparation can take help of various previous year question papers including detailed idea of the examination pattern and could go through mock SNAP tests. Before going to the section wise planning for SNAP, let's assess the changes in SNAP paper over the last few years. 2017 onwards SNAP conducts the test in an internet based Online Format.

    SNAP Preparation Strategy

    The paper can be fragmented into 3 parts:

    1. Concept driven -

    • There is Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation and selected areas of Reading Comprehension and General English that falls under the concept driven segment.
    • Questions on these areas are sometimes difficult to answer without the clarity of basic concepts, thus we advise aspirants to clear their all basic concepts and important fundamentals in these topics.

    2. Practice intensive -

    • Logical Reasoning is a totally related to the practice intensive section.
    • For this segment we advise the aspirants to practise past and similar questions types that have the direct impact on the up-coming SNAP examination questions.

    3. Environment sensitive -

    • Awareness about the daily and general topics is covered under this environment sensitive section.

    These topics can be easily prepared by reading and summarizing day to day current affairs in various daily newspapers and magazines and of course from internet, that is the most trusted and fastest way to grab the information and knowledge.

    SNAP Preparation Tips-

    SNAP entrance test is a 2 hours written test. Thus, the understanding of preparation for SNAP exam is most important. The aspirants are advised to prepare for every topic, every section in detail and if prefer to go for a single subject at a time. Let us first go through few tips which are covered in SNAP examination, individually on each topic.

    Topics covered in SNAP are -

    Quantitative Capability, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency-(40 questions, 1 mark for each)

    This section contains mainly Mensuration and arithmetic related questions. The subjects under it are percentages, allegations-mixtures, inequalities, speed, distance and time, averages, sets-functions, number system, profit-loss, time-work, simple-compound interest. This part is totally concept bases test that need to have clarification about all basic concepts.

    While data sufficiency is not much a regular topic in various SNAP entrance examinations. The questions in this section are set theory, tables, bar graph, Pie chart, critical reasoning, visual reasoning and combinations. The questions asked in data interpretation are not as tough as asked in CAT examination.

    General English- (40 questions, 1 mark for each)

    This part consists of grammar, reading comprehensions, verbal reasoning and vocabulary related questions. SNAP mainly focuses on vocabulary based questions and students need to be focused on this part. Thus, a student must develop a habit of reading daily English newspapers, educational and general magazines that improves vocabulary and this approach helps scoring good marks in this section.

    Analytical and logical reasoning-(30 questions, 2 marks for each)

    This section is the hardest section of paper thus students must focus on this section because every question carries double marks for each right answer. Thus we advise students to check various last year papers for practise.

    General Knowledge-(40 questions, 1 mark for each)

    The General Knowledge syllabus mostly consists of Current Issues, various leading brands, static GK, business general knowledge, Economics, sports, awards, important alliances and many more. Aspirants also need to put more efforts for this section due to low cut offs. In today’s time, magazine, daily National and International newspapers and journals on various topics are the best way to prepare and full your knowledge for the SNAP entrance examination. These worldwide current topics boost the confidence of aspirants that helps them in better performance during the examination. Moreover, aspirants could update themselves with a variety of online websites and topics, that these days are the best and instant source of information.

    Further Tips for improvements are explained below-

    • Time bound approach-

    One common mistake in the ambitious aspirants is that they never practise time bounded approaches. Due to this, aspirants are not able to complete various topics within time that results in an incomplete paper. Thus they must practise time bound approach to solve questions.

    • Gear-up to clear your concepts-

    The topics that are not easily understood by the aspirants need a special attention during the preparation of SNAP examination. If aspirants started preparing for the exam, then they have much time to spend on their doubtful areas or subjects.

    • Negative Marking-

    Ambitious aspirants for this SNAP examination should take care for the negative marking. The negative marking means 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. Therefore, aspirants should attempt the well prepared questions only. Aspirants could not take it lightly. Therefore, there is no need of any guess for the answers.

    • Practise and revision for success-
