    Who was re-appointed as RBI Deputy Governor for another three years - Urjit Patel

    Among Important Economy and Banking Current Affairs, On 8th January 2016, Dr Urjit R Patel was reappointed as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India, it will be his second term and he will be serving at this post for another three years.

    Dr Urjit R Patel who has a doctorate from Yale University joined RBI earlier in January 2013. Before joined RBI he was advisor with Boston Consulting Group.

    • There all total four deputy governors of RBI, Another three are HR Khan, R Gandhi and SS Mundra.
    • RBI started its operations on 1 April 1935 under British rule and after Independence RBI was nationalised on 1 January 1949.

    Online initiative to engage LPG consumers and citizens was launched by - Union Govt

    Among National Current Affairs, On 9th January 2016 Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) launched an Online Initiative to engage the LPG Consumers and Citizens in providing efficient and citizen friendly services in LPG distribution.

    There are two domains which were launched these are : 

    • www.mygov.in
    • www.mylpg.in

    This initiative is one of the many steps for observing 2016 as the Year of LPG Consumers.

    Who was named as Prime Minister of Burkina Faso - Paul Kaba Thieba

    Among Internation Current Affairs, On 7th January 2016, Economist Paul Kaba Thieba named as new Prime Minister of Burkina Faso by President Roch Marc Christian Kabore.

    Paul Kaba Thieba has worked as an economist for the West African central bank, BCEAO, in Ivory Coast.
