    Which soldiers will march down Rajpath on Republic Day 2016 - French soldiers 

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 26th January 2016, along with Indian troops, the French soldiers in the presence of President Francois Hollande will march down the Rajpath on Republic Day. 

    This is the first time , Since 1950, this is for the first time that a foreign army will participate in the 26th January Parade. 

    Earlier on 14th July 2009, Maratha light infantry, which is one of the oldest regiments of Indian Army took part in the parade in France on the Bastille Day.

    What companies will transport fly ash free of cost to road construction site in Odisha - Thermal power 

    On 8th January 2016, fly ash will be transported free of cost to road construction site in Odisha located within 100 kms perimeter of their plant by thermal Power companies.

    On 8th January 2016, NTPC and State Pollution Control Board took this decision at the joint meeting at Bhubaneswar.

    The decision was taken to remove the additional burden of plant residuue that is left over.

    In which state norms for erecting memorials of national leaders and others notified - Maharashtra

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 8th January 2016, norms for erecting memorials of politicians, freedom fighters, historical personalities, saints and national leaders were notified by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

    Major highlights of the Resolution 

    • Not more than two memorials of a national leader will be allowed in the state and will be build in two separate administrative divisions.
    • Prior approval should be taken by the state Urban Development Department before building the structure.
    • The memorial should be constructed in the form of hostels, colleges, hospitals, schools, reading rooms, multipurpose auditoriums, research centres, libraries and other institutions meant for public use.

    It was stated by the GR states that new socially relevant schemes should be started in the name of the national leaders instead of constructing memorials.
