    Who has been appointed as member of UPSC?- M Sathiyavathy

    Labour Secretary M Sathiyavathy accepted the responsibility as member of Union Public Service Commission. She was directed oath of office and secrecy as member by Vinay Mittal, Chairman, Union Public Service Commission. Sathiyavathy is IAS Officer of 1982 batch of AGMUT Cadre. She has vast and diverse experience and has served in numerous key positions under the Government during her career span of more than 35 years.
    She has organised various significant positions in Central Government including first woman chief of Directorate General of Civil Aviation. She also had worked as Joint Directorate General in Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Controller, Indian Space Research Organisation Satellite Centre, Department of Space, Ministry of Textiles, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board.

    World’s first microfactory for e-waste  developed by - Indian origin scientist

    Trained at IIT, Australian scientist of Indian origin Veena Sahajwalla has released world’s 1st micro factory that can convert components from electronic waste items into useful materials for re-use.

    • The e-waste micro-factory uses green production technologies to convert various types of user waste including glass, plastic and timber into profitable products.
    • It is modular micro-factory that can function on site of even 50 sqm and can be positioned wherever waste may be build up stocks.
    • It has one or small machines series and tools that utilises patented technology to accomplish one or more jobs in the restructuring of waste items into new and working items.

    • The e-waste micro-factory has various small modules for dispensing e-waste and fits into minute site.

    The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India released ‘Project Dhoop’ to tackle increasing incidence of Vitamin D deficiencies, specifically amongst the young people. The project focuses to inspire schools to alter their morning assembly to around noon-time between 11am-1pm to make sure that students get maximum Vitamin D absorption via natural sunlight.

Celebration of this day looks forward to spread additional information about this form of medicine in conventional public health. This year it is 263-birthday of founder of Homoeopathy. On this event, Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu has initiated scientific convention on World Homeopathy Day 2018 in New Delhi planned by Ministry of AYUSH. The subject of 2-day programme was “Innovate: Evolve, Progress: Exploring Science for 40 years”.

    Who has been appointed as DG of CISF ? - Rajesh Ranjan  

    The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet led by the PM Narendra Modi has designated senior Indian Police Service officer Rajesh Ranjan as DG of Central Industrial Security Force. He will have job till November 30th , 2020.
    The position was lying unoccupied after incumbent O.P.Singh promoted and joined as Director General
    of Up Police in January 2018.  Ranjan is 1984 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre. Previously he was Special
    Director General of Border Security Force.
    Central Industrial Security Force

    • The Central Industrial Security Force is a central armed police force under the guidance of Ministry of Home Affairs.
    • It was originally recognized under Central Industrial Security Force Act, 1968 to protect
      major PSUs.

    India signed MoU with World Expo 2020 Dubai on - 10th April 2018

    India and World Expo 2020 inked participants’ MoU on April 10th , 2018 for India’s pavilion in the World Expo 2020 which will be organised in Dubai.  The accordance of the contract was inked by Manoj K Dwivedi, Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Commerce and Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of Dubai Expo 2020.
    Key Points

    • The MoU delivers the formation of India’s pavilion at Expo 2020 on an extra-large plot of approximately 1 acre in the ‘Opportunity’ segment. 
    • Focus will be issued to India’s advances in Space, Pharmaceutical, Information Technology, Renewable Energy and Telecom segments at the pavilion.
    • The pavilion will be established in public-private partnership means. 
    • Moreover, important industries and trades will work in tune with the Central government and State governments to participate in it. 
    • Different state governments, bureaus and major industry connotations and businesses have shown their willingness for taking part in the World Expo 2020 which will be organised for 6 months beginning in October 2020.
    • India has already selected Binoy Kumar, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, as DG of World Expo 2020 Dubai.
