    Men singles title of Wimbledon was won by - Novak Djokovic

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 12th July 2015, Serbian professional tennis player Novak Djokovic won men's singles title of Wimbledon. He defeated Roger Federer of Switzerland in the final clash in London. Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer by 7-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.

    Novak Djokovic is currently also ranked world No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals.

    Mixed dobule title at Wimbledon was won by - Paes-Hingis

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 12th July 2015, Indo-Swiss pair of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis won mixed doubles title at Wimbledon. They defeated Austrian-Hungarian team of Alexander Peya and Timea Babos in an easy match by 6-1, 6-1.

    Paes and Hingis had already won Australian Open in February 2015.

    This was 16th Grand Slam trophy and eighth mixed doubles title of Leander Paes.

    Wimbledon Boys Doubles title 2015 was won by - Sumit Nagal-Nam Hoang Ly

    On 12th July 2015, Indo-Vietnamese pair Sumit Nagal-Nam Hoang Ly clinched Boys Doubles title. They defeated Opelka and Akira Santillan in the final clash by 7-6 (4) 6-4.

    After this win Sumit Nagal became sixth Indian to win a Grand Slam junior title. Before him five other Indian who have won Grand Slam junior title are :

    • Ramanathan Krishnan in 1954 (Wimbledon), 
    • Ramesh Krishnan in 1979 (French Open and Wimbledon), 
    • Leander Paes in 1990 (Wimbledon and 1999 U.S. Open), 
    • Sania Miraza in 2003 (Wimbledon Girls Doubles) and 
    • Yuki Bhambri in 2009 (Australian Open)

    Green Signals: Ecology, Growth, and Democracy in India is written by - Jairam Ramesh

    Book written by former Union Environment and Forest Minister (Independent Charge) Jairam Ramesh titled  "Green Signals: Ecology, Growth, and Democracy in India" was released. 

    It unveils the story of environmental policy making in India from the perspective of a pivotal decision maker.

    It chronicles India's environmental decision-making since the 1991 movement, telling the story of how, for the first time, the doors of the environment ministry were opened to voices, hitherto unheard, into the policy-making process.

    Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2015 was confered to - Tata Steel's West Bokaro Division

    On 11th July 2015, Golden Peacock Environment Management Award (GPEMA) 2015 was conferred to Tata Steel's West Bokaro Division in New Delhi. Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar presented this award to General Manager of West Bokaro, Tata Steel of Jharkand Sanjay Rajoria.

    Golden Peacock Environment Management Award is an annual award which is presented for attaining significant achievements in the field of Environment Management during the previous year and this award was instituted by the World Environment Foundation (WEF) in 1998.

    Name of India's longest road tunnel which will open in 2016 - Patnitop Tunnel

    On 13th July 2015, India's longest road tunnel Patnitop Tunnel was in news when Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari attended a ceremony when the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) engineers drilled a hole through the final section of the tunnel between Chenani and Nashri.

    This tunnel is also famous with the name of Chenani-Nashri Tunnel. This tunnel is scheduled to open for traffic in July 2016.

    Length of Patnitop Tunnel is 9.2 Km. This tunnel is a part of 286 km-long four-laning of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway which is being constructed to reduce the distance between two cities Jammu and Srinagar. As it will reduce from 41 Km to 10.89 Km.

    Which country was desginated as 16th Major Non-NATO Ally by USA - Tunisia

     Among International Current Affairs, On 10th July 2015, Tunisia was formally designated as 16th Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA) by United States of America.

    Earlier On 21st May 2015, US President Barack Obama announced it during the visit of Tunisia president Caid Essebsi to Washington.

    The MNNA status offers tangible privileges including eligibility for training, loans of equipment for cooperative research and development, and Foreign Military Financing for commercial leasing of certain defense articles by the USA to Tunisia.

    GAGAN System was launched by - Union Civil Aviation Ministry

    Among the Important National Current Affairs, On 13th July 2015, India became fourth nation in the world to have inter-operable Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), as Union Minister of Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju formally launched the GAGAN system (GPS AIDED GEO AUGMENTED NAVIGATION) in New Delhi.

    Important to mention here that final operational phase of the system commenced on 19 May 2015, when it started broadcasting APV1 Certified aviation signals.

    GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) System was jointly developed by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It will enable transition of the air traffic management system to satellite-based seamless navigation across continents covering the airspace from Australia to Africa as well as west Asia to China and Russia. 

    After GSAT-8 and GSAT-10 satellites which are already operational, third payload will be carried onboard GSAT-15 satellite scheduled for launch in October 2015.

    India and Kyrgyzstan inked - 4 agreements

    On 12th July 2015, India and Kyrgyzstan inked four MoUs. These MoUs were focused to strengthen bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, in warm and friendly atmosphere. These were inked on the official visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kyrgyzstan from 11th July to 12th July 2015.

    These four MoUs are : 

    • Agreement on Defence Cooperation,
    • Memorandum of Mutual Understanding and Cooperation in the field of Elections,
    • MoU between on cooperation in the sphere of Standards and 
    • Agreement on Cooperation in Culture.

    40 members CBI team was constituted to probe which infamous scam - Vyapam scam

    Following the direction of Supreme Court of India, On 12th July 2015 a 40 member CBI team was constituted under a Joint Director level officer to probe the infamous multi crore Vyapam scam of Madhya Pradesh.

    Vyapam scam was a scam of admissions and recruitments which resulted undeserving candidates getting admissions and Jobs after giving bribe.

    Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India H L Dattu transferred all the cases related to Vyapam scam to CBI. CBI is asked to file its report before 24th July 2015.
