    India won 3-match ODI series by 3-0 against - Zimbabwe

    On 14th July 2015, India won 3rd One Day International against Zimbabwe in Harare, thus defeating Zimbabwe by 3-0 in three match series.

    Union Ministry of Urban Development launched nationwide HRIDAY scheme from - Amritsar

    On 14th July 2015, Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting Arun Jaitley launched National Heritage Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) for 12 cities in the country from Amritsar in Punjab. Union Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister of Punjab Singh Badal was also present at this occasion.

    NASA's New Horizons made closest approach to which planet - Pluto

    Among the Important Current Affairs, On 14th July 2015, NASA's New Horizons space probe made closest approach to Pluto when it flew 12600 km from the surface of the dwarf planet at an average speed of 49750 kph.

    The successful completion of the operation is very significant as the interplanetary probe could send the images of Pluto taken from the nearest point till date after travelling 4.88 billion km from the earth.

    Purpose of this probe was to study Pluto, its moons and Kuiper Belt. This probe was launched by NASA as part of New Frontiers program on 19th January 2015.

    #100Women Initiative to recognize 100 women achievers of India was launched by - Union Government and Facebook

    On 14th July 2015, Union Ministry of Women and Child Development launched the #100Women Initiative in collaboration with Facebook to select 100 women achievers of India with an aim to recognize and aknowledge women who are making a difference in their communities across the country.

    For this there will a content which will be held by public nominations via social media and nominations will be accepted from 15th July to 30th September on the facebook page of Ministry.

    Union Government decided to cap kerosene subsidy at - Rs 12 per litre

    On 13th July 2015, Union Government decided to cap the subsidy payout on kerosene at 12 rupees per litre.

    At present, kerosene is sold through public distribution system at 14.96 rupees per litre against the actual cost of 33.47 rupees. The difference of 18.51 rupees per litre is termed as under-recovery or revenue loss.

    Frost and Sullivan's 2015 Economic Development Innovation Award won by - Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion for Make in India initiative

    On 14th July 2015, Make in India initiative of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Government of India was presented with 2015 Asia - Pacific Economic Development Innovation: Policy and Program Implementation Excellence Award in Manufacturing.

    Amitabh Kant, Secretary, DIPP from Aroop Zutshi received this award from Frost & Sullivan's Global President and Managing Partner .

    The award was given in recognition of its outstanding contribution to nurture India’s economic and industrial transformation through simplifying the regulatory framework, reinforcing connectivity and incentivising investments.

    Iconic musician Joan Sebastian passed away

    On 13th July 2015, Noted Mexican musician Joan Sebastian passed away at the age of 64. He was also popular with the name of El Rey del Jaripeo (the King of Mexican Rodeo).

    Where was India's first railway-line built under PPP model inaugurated - Gujrat

    On 14th July 2015, Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the broad-gauge railway-line between Gandhidham and Tuna-Tekra Port in Gujarat by flagging off a goods train. This is India's first railway line to be built with private sector participation under Non-Government Railway (NGR) Policy 2012 of Indian Railways.
