    Name of two players who won Laureus World Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year award - Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams 

    For the first time Laureus World Sports Awards 2016 ceremony was held in Germany where, World No 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award, whereas US tennis player Serene Williams won the Sportswoman of the Year Award.

    For Novak Djokovic it was his second Laureus Awards, which he won back-to-back. Whereas, for Serena it was her fourth Laureus Awards.

    Which bank group is going to Invest 2.5 Billion US Dollars in Education Projects benefiting Adolescent Girls - World Bank Group

    World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim announced that the World Bank Group will invest 2.5 billion US dollars over 5 years in education projects that directly benefit adolescent girls.

    When the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama make a call to action, urging key policymakers and influencers from around the world to commit to urgent action in support of adolescent girls.

    During the World Bank Group-IMF Spring Meetings, the announcement was made at the Let Girls Learn event.

    Union Government released Commemorative Coin and Circulation Coin on - Tatya Tope

    On 18 April 2016, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma released a Commemorative Coin of Rupees 200 and a Circulation Coin of 10 Rupees to mark the Martyrdom Day of Tatya Tope.

    Tatya Tope who was the main hero of 1857 revolt, The government along with the 125 crore people of India salute him with full pride.

    Know About Tatya Tope – 

    •Tatya Tope whose full name is Ramachandra Pandurang Tope was an Indian leader in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and one of its notable generals. 

    •He progressed with the Gwalior contingent after the British reoccupied Cawnpore and forced General Windham to retreat from the city. 

    •Afterwards, he came to the relief of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and with her seized the city of Gwalior. Where, he was defeated by General Napier's British Indian troops at Ranod and after a further defeat at Sikar abandoned the campaign.

    In which country the 13th Islamic Summit Conference concluded – Istanbul

    In Istanbul, Turkey the 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference was concluded. On 10 April 2016, The Islamic Summit was held under the theme Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace.

    The main agenda of the summit included the question of Palestine and Arab-Israeli conflict, conflict situation in the Muslim world, combating terrorism and violent extremism, Islamophopia, humanitarian situation in the Muslim world, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) 2025 Programme of Action.

    Know About Organisation of Islamic Cooperation:

    •An international organization, The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation was founded in 1969 consisting of about 57 member states.

    •This organization is the collective voice of the Muslim world and works to safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony.

    •Official languages of the OIC are Arabic, English and French.

    Who is appointed as Pakistan chief selector - Inzamam-ul-Haq

    On 18 April 2016, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq as the new chief selector of the team.

    Inzamam, who is a veteran of 120 tests and 398 one-day internationals, replaced Haroon Rasheed as chief selector. The PCB has not set a fixed term for Inzamam's tenure.

    Now, the members of the new selection committee are former test off-spinner Tauseef Ahmed, former international fast bowler Wasim Haider and batsman Wajahatullah Wasti.

    Know About Inzamam-ul-Haq:

    •A former Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq is also known as Inzy. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Pakistani batsmen ever.

    •After Younis Khan and Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq is the leading run scorer for Pakistan in One-Day Cricket and the third-highest run scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket.

    •Inzamam-ul-Haq was also the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team from 2003–07 and is considered to be one of the best leaders in Pakistan Cricket history. Currently Inzamam is the coach of the Afghanistan cricket team

    Maharashtra to use which to check spurious liquor - Hologram Technique

    On 18 April 2016, The Maharashtra Government decided to make it mandatory to have a hologram on every alcohol bottle manufactured and sold in the state. 

    This step was taken to check sale of spurious liquor.

    What the Government has decided is to paste polyester base track and trace hologram, to be supported by a mobile app, which will help consumers find out whether the liquor is fake or genuine.

    The decision is all set to be implemented either from 1 July 2016 or 1 August 2016. The decision was taken keeping in mind the last year’s tragedy at Malwani where about 100 people died after consuming spurious liquor.
