    Who was appointed as the nominee in peace-building panel by United Nation (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon - Saraswathi Menon

    On 24th January 2015, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Indian sociologist Saraswathi Menon in peace-building panel that will review peace building activities. Ms.Menon has been the director of the Policy Division of UN-Women, the UN body for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and the director of the UN Development Program's Evaluation Office. Ms. Menon, a former lecturer at Madras University has a doctorate in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi.

    Which bank signed a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank(EIB) and of how much amount- State Bank of India (SBI) signed a loan agreement for 100 million Euro

    On 23rd January 2015, State Bank of India (SBI) signed a loan agreement for 100 million Euro (about Rs 700 crore) with the European Investment Bank.This is the third tranche of a total sanctioned loan of 200 million euro by EIB. The agreement was promoted by SBI Capital Markets. The loan will be utilised to support the development of private sector, small and medium-sized enterprises ( SMEs), social and economic infrastructure.

    On 24th January 2015, National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year across the nation. It is celebrated to promote the girls position in the society to make their living better among society people. In our country, female literacy rate is still 53.87% and one third of the youngster girls are malnourished. National Girl Child Day celebration was started by the Women and Child Development Ministry since 2008 to celebrate as the national observance.

    Who has presented the National Bravery Award 2014 - PM Narendra Modi

    On 24th January 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded the National Bravery Award to 24 people.  The awardees has received a medal, certificate and cash incentive. But sadly, four of them will be bestowed with the honour posthumously. All of them will be a part of  parade on 26th January Republic Day.
