    Integrity Pact was signed between - NTC and Transparency International India

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 3rd December 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)Transparency International India (TII) and National Textile Corporation (NTC) Limited for adopting Integrity Pact (IP).

    Integrity Pact is a tool which makes sure that all activities and transactions are handled in a fair, transparent and corruption-free manner between a Company or Government Department and their Suppliers. It also forbids any kind of bribing, favour or any other unethical practice, which is closely monitored by honorary Independent External Monitors (IEMs).

    Where did the First India International Science Festival started - IIT-Delhi

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 4th December 2015, The first India International Science Festival (IISF) began at IIT-Delhi.

    The objectives of IISF 2015 are as follows:

    Who has passed bill to establish BIS as National Standards Body - Lok Sabha

    On 3rd December 2015, the Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015 to establish the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as a National Standards Body was passed by the Lok Sabha.

    The bill looks after the harmonious development of standardization and assessment and quality assurance of goods, processes and services.

    Highlights of the Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015

    • Misuse of Standard mark will be a considered as an offence.
    • Violation of provisions of the law will result in imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine.
    • It allows Union Government to make it obligatory for certain notified goods, articles and processes to carry the standard mark.
    • It enables multiple types of conformity evaluation schemes in tune with best global practices.

    Introduction of Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2015 in Parliament

    On 2nd December 2015, Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2015 was approveed by the Union Cabinet in the Parliament.

    The purpose of the bill is to provide a legal status to the centre. At present it is active at the NCR Biotech Science Cluster, Faridabad.

    Key features of Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2015

    • The bill will allow the centre to function independently as an autonomous body.
    • The areas included are bioengineering, nano-science and medicine, imaging techniques, bio-drug discovery science, designer crops and biomaterials and intellectual property.
    • It will help in conquering the acute shortage of skilled human resources.
    • The centre will be recognized as a Institution of National Importance.

    Which state has became the first to launch Rotavirus vaccination project - Himachal Pradesh

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 3rd December 2015, Rotavirus vaccination project was first launched by Himachal Pradesh to control the child mortality rate.

    • Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh launched the project at Dharamsala.
    • He provided the Rotavirus drops to children aged under 5.
    • The entire cost of the vaccines and technical assistance will be provided by International Clinical Epidemiological Network.

    Accessible India Campaign for differently-abled launched by - Union Government

    On 3rd December 2015, Accessible India Campaign or Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot and Union Minister of Finance, Arun Jaitley.

    The campaign is nationwide that aims at allowing persons with disabilities to gain universal access, equal opportunity for development, independent living and participation.

    Highlights of Accessible India Campaign

    • The initiative is in line with the Article 9 of UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) to which India is a signatory from 2007.
    • At least 50 % of all the government buildings of National Capital and all the State capitals will be made fully accessible for persons with disabilities till 2018.
    • Till July 2016, all the international airports and railway stations of A1, A and B categories will be made fully accessible.

    44th Navy Day observed on - 4th December

    Estimates of the global burden of foodborne diseases released by - WHO

    Among the important International Current Affairs, On 3rd December 2015, first ever report on foodborne diseases was released by The World Health Organisation titled Estimates of the Global Burden of Foodborne Diseases.

    Findings of the report

    • In 2010, there were 31 foodborne hazards, including toxins and chemicals, bacteria, viruses, parasites that caused 600 million foodborne illnesses and 420000 deaths worldwide.
    • Diarrhoeal disease agents, particularly norovirus and Campylobacter are the most frequent causes of foodborne illness.
