PM Modi, Ghani inaugurates - Afghan-India Friendship Dam

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 4 June 2016 Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Afghanistan President Dr Ashraf Ghani together inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam with in Herat province in Western Afghanistan.

Before this Dam was familiar with the name Salma Dam which is located on the river Chist-e-Sharif in western Herat neighbouring Iran. 

This Dam used will irrigate 75000 hectares of land and generate 42 Mega Watts of power

Here at the inaugural function, Afghan President conferred the highest civilian honour of Afghanistan, the Amir Amanullah Khan Award on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Asia's first which Programme has been launched - Gyps Vulture Reintroduction Programme

On 3 June 2016, The Haryana Government launched the Asia's First Gyps Vulture Reintroduction Programme at Jatayu Conservation Breeding Centre, Pinjore.

The step for the breeding and conservation of vultures has been taken in the direction of saving the endangered species.

Two Himalayan Griffons into the wild from the Conservation Centre released jointly by Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Scientists create what that turns sunlight into liquid fuel - Bionic Leaf

Among International Current Affairs, from Harvard University (United States) a team of scientists has created a unique bionic leaf that uses only sunlight (solar energy) to split water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen and hydrogen-eating bacteria, which help to produce liquid fuels from CO2. 

Surprisingly, this artificial photosynthesis device has been dubbed bionic leaf 2.0. The new system is able to convert solar energy to biomass with 10% efficiency.  

However, its efficiency is much higher than the 1% seen in the fastest growing plants. Scientists had used a new cobalt-phosphorous alloy catalyst for this experiment in order to increase efficiency.
