    NASA’s Juno spacecraft successfully begins orbit of – Jupiter

    On 4th July 2016, NASA’s Juno spacecraft has successfully entered into the orbit of Jupiter and started orbiting solar system’s most massive planet.

    NASA launched the spacecraft as part of its New Frontiers program in 2011 to study Jupiter’s composition, gravity field, magnetic field, and polar magnetosphere.

    Know About Juno Spacecraft –

    • The Juno Spacecraft is in a polar orbit to study Jupiter's composition, gravity field, magnetic field, and polar magnetosphere.

    • Juno is all set to search for clues about how the planet formed, including whether it has a rocky core, the amount of water present within the deep atmosphere, mass distribution, and its deep winds, which can reach speeds of 618 kilometers per hour (384 mph).

    How many numbers of new Ministers of State inducted in Union council of Ministers – 19

    Among Important National Current Affairs, in the Union Council of Ministers in a major expansion, nineteen (19) new Ministers of State (MoS) were inducted. 

    These new ministers were administered oath of office and secrecy by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

    For the NDA government, this was the second expansion of the led. Surprisingly, Of the 19 new ministers, 17 are from the BJP, one each from Apna Dal and RPI. 

    Besides, induction of these new ministers, Minister of State (MoS) Environment, Forests and Climate Change with independent charge, Prakash Javdekar was elevated to the Cabinet rank.

    Para swimmer Niranjan Mukundan wins eight medals in - IWAS World Games

    Niranjan Swimmer Among Important Sports Current Affairs, Niranjan Mukundan who is a Para swimmer won eight medals, including three gold medals, at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports (IWAS) U-23 World Games.

    On 3 July 2016, the game was concluded in Prague, Czech Republic.

    Here, Mukundan bagged gold medals in 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke, silver in 100m fly and 50m freestyle, and bronze in 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke events.

    Know About Niranjan Mukundan – 

    • In the year 2015, Niranjan Mukundan was crowned as the Junior World Champion.

    • Niranjan Mukundan, who is an Indian para-swimmer and trains with fellow GoSports Foundation scholar and London 2012 paralympian Sharath Gayakwad, under coach John Christopher.

    Logistic Performance Index 2016 released by - World Bank

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 1st July 2016 World Bank released the Logistics Performance Index 2016 titled ‘Connecting to compete ‘Trade Logistics in the Global Economy.’ 

    However, the 2016 Logistics Performance Index (LPI) allows for comparisons across 160 countries.

    Please Note: The 2016 LPI is known to be an interactive benchmarking tool which is created to help countries, identify the challenges and opportunities they face in their performance on trade logistics and what they can do to improve their performance.

    Who takes over as Director of IISU - MV Dhekane

    Among Important National Current Affairs, noted scientist M V Dhekane has assumed the office of Director of ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. 

    After this, Dhekane becomes the seventh director of IISU which functions under the aegis of the Department of Space.

    Know About M V Dhekane – 

    • M V Dhekane who is a B-Tech graduate in electrical engineering and M-tech (Systems and Control) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai. 

    • In 1983, he had also joined Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).

    Hero MotoCorp inked 3-year wage agreement with - Gurgaon Workers

    Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HMCL) which is known to be a country’s largest two-wheeler maker has inked a wage settlement pact with its permanent workers at Gurgaon Plant, entailing a hike of 12500 rupees spread over three years.

    The three-year agreement will be implemented with retrospective effect starting from 1 August 2015 till 31 July 2018. The previous wage settlement was also effective from 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2015.
