    DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018 approved by - Union Cabinet

    With an aim to strengthen justice delivery system, Union Cabinet has approved The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill 2018. This will allow use of DNA Based forensic technologies. Law enforcement agencies will not able to collect DNA samples and can have special databanks for forensic-criminal investigations.

    Though as per this bill DNA profiles can only by used for identification of a person, they can't be used for any other purpose. DNA Profiling Board will authorise creation of State-level DNA databanks and will also approve the methods of collection and analysis of DNA-technologies. As we know DNA test results are very reliable, so it will help speedier justice delivery.

    Successful flight testing of Crew Escape System conducted by - ISRO

    On 5th July 2018, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) conducted successful flight testing of "Crew Escape System". Crew Escape System is an emergency escape measure designed to quickly pull the crew module along with the astronauts to a safe distance from the launch vehicle in case launch is aborted due to any reasons.

    ISRO executed this test on its news Crew capsule. Approx 300 sensors were used to monitor various performance levels.

    EU's controversial copyright law rejected by - European Parliament

    On 5th July 2018, European Parliament lawmakers rejected highly controversial European Union copyright law proposal. This law was proposed against the creator of Wikipedia. It failed to get required support of parliamentary legislator. This proposal was also resisted by US tech companies and other people who advocate Internet freedom.
