    At IWF World Masters Weightlifting Championships Sudhakar Jayant clinched gold medal

    On 5th September 2014, Lt Colonel Sudhakar Jayant serving Indian Army won the gold medal at IWF World Masters Weightlifting Championships. He won gld medal for the third time. He was competing in 62kg weight category and lifted 185 kg.

    Lt Col Sudhakar Jayant is a alumnus of IIT of 1990 batch of Electrical Engineering.

    Civil Nuclear Energy deal inked between India and Australia

    On 5th September 2014, a pact was signed on civil nuclear energy deal between India and Australia, which is among most important National Current Affairs. 

    By this pact Australia will able to sell Uranium to India. Uranium is very important for India at this point to match the growing energy needs.

    This pact was signed in the presence of Australian PM Tony Abbott and Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

    NSIC got new CMD as Ravindra Nath took charge

    On 4th September 2014 Ravindra Nath took charge of CMD (Chairman and Managing director) of National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC).  He succeeded H P Kumar.

    IIAS got first women chairperson with the appointment of Chandrakala Padia

    On 4th September 2014, Professor Chandrakala Padia was appointed as chairperson of Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), this way she become first woman to hold this position. She succeeded the former West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi. 

    Professor Chandrakala Padia has expertise in political theory, Indian and Western political thought, women's studies, Gandhian studies and human rights. 

    Mixed Doubles trophy of US Open bagged by Sania Mirza & Bruno Soares

    On 5th September 2014, Important Sports Current Affair came in as Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza clinched her third mixed doubles Grand Slam title at US Open. She won this title with her partner Bruno Soares from Brazil. They marked this sensational win over Abigail Spears from the USA and Santiago Gonzalez from Mexico.

    Though it was Sania's third mixed doubles grand slam title but was the First US Open title. Previously she won Australian Open in 2009 and French Open in 2012. 

    India got 11th century stolen idols as a gift from Australian PM Tony Abbott

    On 5th September 2014, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott returned two stolen antique statues of Hindu deities to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One Idol is the dancing Shiva "Nataraja" which belongs to Chola dynasty of 11th-12th century and sculpture is of Ardhanariswara which represents Shiva in half-female form which belonged to the 10th century. 

    Both these statues were stolen from temples in Tamil Nadu.
