    Third batsman after Sachin, Hayden to score over 600 scores in a World Cup 2019 ? - Shakib Al Hasan 

    Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has become the 3rd cricketer in the world following Sachin Tendulkar and Mathew Hayden to score above 600 scores in a World Cup series. Sachin Tendulkar had scored 673 runs during the 2003 World Cup, while Mathew Hayden had scored 659 runs during the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
    The Bangladeshi cricketer, however, surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of maximum scores scored in world cup group stage matches. Shakib finished his World Cup campaign with 606 runs in world cup group stage, which is above Sachin’s 586 scores in the group stage of 2003 World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan also has the 9th highest scores in World Cup history with 1146 runs in 29 matches.
    Shakib Al Hasan also became the 1st-ever cricketer to score 8 consecutive 40-plus scores in World Cup history. Shakib surpassed half century in all of his 7 innings in ICC World Cup 2019.
    The only time he made 41 scores was against Australia.
    Despite being a part of a team that was knocked-out of the world cup tournament, Shakib presently leads the highest run scorer list in World Cup 2019 with 606 scores, overtaking Rohit Sharma who has 544 runs so far in this world cup. Shakib became the leading world cup run scorer with 5 50s and 2 100s.

    Shakib Al Hasan also made another record by taking 11 wickets in the world cup tournament, which is most by a spin bowler. This is the best-ever individual performance in a Cricket World Cup. Shakib’s journey, however, finished in the World Cup 2019 following Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 94 scores at Lord's on July 5th. The match finished the World Cup campaign for both Bangladesh and Pakistani teams.

    Shakib Al Hasan became the 2nd player following Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya to score above 1000 runs and take more than 25 wickets in World Cups. He also became the 4th Bangladeshi batsman to complete 6000 scores in One-Day Internationals. He also became the fastest player to take 250 wickets and 6000 scores, achieving all in 202 matches, overtaking Shahid Afridi, who completed the same feat in 294 matches.

    India to train Bangladeshi Civil Servants at Mussoorie for - 2019-2025

    A batch Bangladeshi civil servant will be skilled at the National Centre for Good Governance,
    Mussoorie Uttarakhand for a period between 2019-2025. National Centre for Good Governance is
    an institute under Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
    Significant Highlights

    • This training is grounded on a MoU inked in February 2019 between NCGG and Ministry of Public
      Administration, Government of Bangladesh, in this regard, during 5th meeting of the India-
      Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission.
    •  This is second time that National Centre for Good Governance has inked a Memorandum of Understanding for a training program for Bangladesh civil servants. Under the first Memorandum of Understanding inked Five years ago, 1500 Bangladesh civil servants were skilled by National Centre for Good Governance.
    • Training Areas, public policy and implementation, e-governance and service delivery, IT,
      decentralization, morals in Administration, urban growth and planning and challenges in
      implementation of SDGs.
    • The training batch will have a sum of 1800 Bangladeshi mid-career civil servants.
    • The 1st batch comprising 30 civil servants leaving for a 2-week long training program at Mussoorie have already paid a visit to Indian High Commission Dhaka, Bangladesh.

    Significance
    This association represents a historic milestone in training and capacity building programs between
    India and Bangladesh.
    These trainings deliver an opportunity to share experiences of administration between civil
    servants of both nations and benefit in beginning strong bilateral ties.

    Which new site is listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage Site ? - Iraq’s Babylon

    UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee has voted to incline sprawling Mesopotamian metropolis of
    Babylon as a World Heritage Site following 30 years of lobbying exertions by Iraq.
    Significant Highlights
    Since 1983 Iraq had been trying to include Babylon site recognised by United Nations Educational,
    Scientific and Cultural Organization.
    The World Heritage Committee met in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, to deliberate Babylon and another
    34 sites, including in Brazil and Burkina Faso, for World Heritage List.
    Following the efficacious vote Babylon, the cradle of civilization was selected.
    Putting Babylon on World Heritage Site List will inspire research and development of the site.

    • It is a massive 10 sq-kilometres complex of which just 18 percent has been unearthed thus far.
    • It was the Centre of ancient Babylonian empire above 4000 years ago. The excavation of site started in early 1800s and articles were forwarded overseas.
    • The city overlaps Iraq’s Euphrates River and is about 100 kms south of Baghdad.
    • Babylon established as a walled city of mudbrick temples and towers and is the largest populated
      city in ancient history.
    • It is globally known for its hanging gardens, the Ishtar Gate and Tower of Babel.
    • Parts of Ishtar Gate were forwarded overseas which still remain in museums across Europe.
      The Babylonians were civilisation of writing, administration and science.
      Other World Heritage Sites in Iraq
      The southern Mesopotamian marshes, Hatra, Samarra, Ashur and the Erbil citadel in northern Iraq
      are the other heritage sites in Iraq. Erbil is the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.

    Centre fixes price for Sovereign Gold Bonds on - 8th July 2019 

    Government of India has fixed the price at Rs 3443 per gm for the new series of Sovereign Gold Bonds
    releasing July 8th.
    Significant Highlights

    • Union Finance Ministry freshly declared that Centre in discussion with RBI has finalised to permit a discount of Rs 50/gm from issue price to those investors who apply online with a digital payment mode.
    • This suggests that for such investors, the issue price of gold bond will be Rs 3393/gm.
    • On 30th May 2019 Reserve Bank of India declared calendar for issuance of Sovereign Gold Bonds for 1st half of present financial year 2019-2020.
    • The Sovereign Gold Bonds’ will be released every month from June 2019 - September 2019.

    • It was released by Government of India in November 2015 with the motive of minimising the
      demand for physical Gold and shifting a part of domestic savings which is utilised for purchase of
      Gold, into financial savings.
    • Minimum Investment in bonds is One gm and an upper limit of subscription of 500 gm/person/fiscal
      year i.e. April-March.
    • Maximum Limit of subscription is 4 kilograms for an individual and Hindu Undivided Family and 20
      kilograms upper subscription limit for trusts and similar entities/fiscal.
    • Annual Ceiling comprises bonds contributed under different tranches during early issuance by
      centre and those purchased from secondary market.
