The BSE Sensex fell 817.48 points to 38695.91 in trade headed by Bajaj Finserv as biggest loser among Bajaj Finance, ONGC, NTPC, Hero Motocorp, Indian Oil Corporation, Indiabulls Housing Finance Maruti, LandT, Grasim Industries and State Bank of India which dropped 4-8 percent. Likewise, the broader Nifty sank too more than 271 points to 11539.75.

Earlier in the day, the Sensex had dropped by 400 points at 39107.72  and Nifty jumped 128 points, or 1.08 percent, to 11683.15. Top losers in the Sensex are Bajaj Finance, ONGC, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti, L&T, NTPC, State Bank of India, Tata Motors  and Axis Bank, cracking about 9 percent.

However, Yes Bank, HCL Tech, TCS, TechM, M&M  and  Infosys were among the gainers. These players were growing about 5 percent. Auto & banking sector were among the worst performers in today's session amongst broad-based selling pressure. Maruti Suzuki shares fall below Rs 6000 level for 1st time since March 30th, 2017.

    Reasons of Sensex crash

    • Budget suggestion to increase minimum public stake holding of listed firms to 35 per cent from 25 per cent surprised market sentiment. Besides, the Budget projected a 20 per cent tax in case on buy-backs, which may dry up share repurchases in the market.
    • Asian markets opened suggestively lower as hopes of steep cuts in interest rates by the United States Federal Reserve faded after the world's largest economy posted better-than-anticipated jobs information.
    • United States Jobs information dragged emerging markets moneys against dollar.
    • If the budget suggestions are to be executed in the next 18 months or so, we might see a large amount of offloading, which might occur.
