Satya Nadella appointed as CEO of Microsoft

Microsoft announced on 4th February 2014, that it has appointed company veteran Satya Nadella as Chief Executive Officer to replace retiring Steve Ballmer. Satya  Nadella previously served as executive vice president of the company's Cloud and Enterprise group, will take over as CEO and join the Board of Directors effective immediately. 

Important to Note : 

• Microsoft also announced that Bill Gates, previously Chairman of the Board of Directors, will assume a new role on the Board as Founder and Technology Advisor.
• Satya Nadella was born in Hyderabad, India and joined Microsoft in 1992.
• Satya Nadella holds a bachelor of degree in electrical engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology.
