Union Government issues fresh guidelines for flexi-fund for – CSS

Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Finance Ministry has finally issued fresh flexi-fund guidelines for the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). 

However, these flexi-fund guidelines will give states more freedom in spending money under the CSS to meet local developmental requirements. 

Also these guidelines were based on the instructions which are issued by NITI Aayog for rationalisation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes. 

These recommendations were also based on instructions of the sub-group of Chief Ministers of states and consultations with stakeholders. 

World’s first daily driverless bus service launched in - Lyon, France

Among Important International Current Affairs, In Lyon, France the world’s first daily driverless bus service has started which will run in the city’s Confluence area. 

This driverless bus service includes two electric shuttles that will transport passengers on a ten-minute route hosting five stops. 

Do You Know – 

• These driverless buses can hold up to about 15 passengers and are electric buses. 

• Driverless buses have features like LIDAR radar technology and motion sensors, which will help to avoid accidents.

Union Cabinet approves formation of - GST Council

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 12th September 2016 the Union Cabinet gave the green signal and approved the process, formation and functioning of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council.

However, the council will consist of the Finance Minister and State Finance Ministers. It will also make recommendations on important issues related to GST, including items and rates.

Stan Wawrinka defeats Novak Djokovic to win - 2016 US Open Men’s Singles title

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 11th September 2016 Third seed Stan Wawrinka has defeated world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic to lift the 2016 US Open Men’s Singles title.

However, in the final round, Swiss Wawrinka defeated Serbian Djokovic 6-7, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the title.

This is Wawrinka’s maiden US Open title and also his third major title.

Philippine revenge drama 'Ang Babaeng Humayo' wins which award at Venice Film Festival - Golden Lion Award

Among Important Entertainment Current Affairs, on 10th September 2016 at the 73 Venice Film Festival, a revenge drama Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left) won the Golden Lion for Best Film Award.

Ang Babaeng Humayo is nearly four-hour black and white revenge drama film about a woman’s thirst for revenge and her feelings of forgiveness after 30 years in jail for a crime she did not commit. 

However, Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky and Mexican film director Amat Escalante shared Silver Lion for Best Direction for their respective films Paradise and The Untamed.

Also Tom Ford's noir thriller Nocturnal Animals from the U.S. won the Grand Jury Prize.
