    On 25th April World Malaria Day Observed across the globe

    On 25th April World Malaria Day Observed across the globe with the theme "Invest in the future. Defeat malaria". 

    World Malaria Day was instituted by WHO Member States during the World Health Assembly of 2007. The day was celebrated on 25 April every year.

    Malaria is an infectious disease that is caused by mosquito-borne plasmodium parasite which infects the red blood cells. It is a curable and preventable. Common symptoms are fever, chills, vomiting, nausea, body ache, headache, cough and diarrhea. 

    The 100 Most Influential People in the World list released by Time Magazine

    The 100 Most Influential People in the World list released by Time Magazine on 24th April 2014. Though there was no ranks given by the magazine. 

     

    Following fours people from India Made it to list :

    • BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi

    • Coimbatore based health activist Arunachalam Muruganantham

    The Time has described Modi as a divisive politician poised to lead the world’s largest democracy. Arvind Kejriwal was described as powerful outsider in Indian politics who is the antithesis of the modern-day Indian politician

    Palestinian factions Hamas, Fatah sign reconciliation agreement

    Palestinian factions Hamas, Fatah sign reconciliation agreement on 23rd April 2014 to end their differences and to form a Palestinian Unity Government in Gaza Strip. 

    The agreement was signed in Gaza by the Prime Minister of Gaza strip and Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh and Fatah-led Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) delegation chief Azzam al-Ahmed.

    The agreement states that an independent government headed by Palestinian President headed by Mahmoud Abbas would be formed within five weeks.
