Reliance Industries launches Reliance Jio offering - Free Voice Calls, cheap Data Plans

Among Important National Current Affairs, on 1st September 2016 Reliance Industries Limited launched the Reliance Jio Service offering free voice calls and zero roaming charges for its customers as a part of Jio Welcome Offer. 

Please Note: The Jio Welcome Offer will be effective from 5 September 2016 up to 31 December 2016 only. 

According to this Jio Welcome Offer, users will have access to unlimited LTE data and national voice, video and messaging services along with the full bouquet of Jio applications and content free of cost.

Which two countries signed the agreement in area of Maritime Transport - India, Egypt

Among Important National Current Affair, on 2nd September 2016 India and Egypt signed an agreement together on Maritime Transport. This agreement would help the two nations to step-up co-operation on the seas not only in terms of maritime commerce but also in transit of naval vessels. 

However, the agreement was signed after delegation level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in New Delhi. 

At an invitation of President Pranab Mukherjee, President Sisi is on a three-day visit (1-3 September 2016) to India.

LG Electronics Inc ties up with whom on smart-home services - Amazon.com

On 2nd September 2016, South Korea's LG Electronics Inc 2016 tied-up with Amazon.com Inc on smart-home services.

However, this tie-up will now help to enable the services of Amazon such as the Alexa virtual assistant on some of the electronics maker's devices.

Which country is at 35th rank in World Bank’s 2016 Logistics Performance Index - India

Among Important International Current Affairs, among 160 countries India has been placed at the 35th rank in the World Bank’s 2016 Logistics Performance Index (LPI). 

However, the index was recently released by World Bank in its report titled ‘Connecting to Complete 2016’. 

Also, India has leapfrogged by 19 spots to 35th rank, which is compared with 54th rank in 2014 LPI.

First BRICS film festival begins in - New Delhi

Among Important National Current Affairs, the first BRICS film festival has begun at the Sirifort Auditorium Complex in New Delhi. 

However, this film festival is the run up to the BRICS summit which is going to be held in Goa in October 2016.

Also, it was inaugurated by Minister of State (MoS) for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore and Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs V.K. Singh.

Guinness World Records declare Majuli as the largest river island

Among Important International Current Affairs, on 1st September 2016 The Guinness World Records declared Assam's Majuli as the largest river island in the world.

According to the Guinness World Records, the island lost around one-third of its area in the last 30-40 years due to frequent flooding of the river.
